Travel Tips For Landbased OFWs

Are you a first time OFW? Or you simply need some reminders to make your travel time convenient and hassle-free? These useful tips will surely help...

On the day of your flight

  • Arrive at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
  • Proceed to the airline check-in counter to claim your boarding pass and to
  • deposit your luggage.

Baggage packing reminders:

  • The limit for check-in baggage is usually 20kg.
  • Do not accept sealed packages for inclusion in your baggage.
  • Do not pack illegal or banned items in your luggage (e.g. drugs, deadly
  • weapons, pornographic materials, and flammable materials); and
  • Seal your luggage properly and make sure to keep an eye on your
  • belongings.


• In case you are required to secure a separate travel tax exemption, proceed to the TIEZA counter at the airport and present your OEC.


• Proceed to the Immigration counter using the special lane for OFWs. The Immigration officer will ask you questions about your work, be polite and respectful. Always have your passport, visa and contract ready. 

• Pass through the final security check.


• Proceed to the boarding gate and wait for the boarding announcement.

• POEA and OWWA have booths at the airports to assist OFWs


The original of the following documents should be in your hand-carry luggage:

  • Passport;
  • Visa;
  • OEC;
  • Contract;
  • PDOS certificate;
  • Airline ticket; and
  • At least 2 other valid IDs.

• Photocopies of these documents should be in your check-in luggage and another set
should be given to your family and agency for safekeeping and records.

• Bring pocket money (in currency of destination country).

• Wear clothes appropriate for the climate (be sure to check the weather) and culture of
the destination country.

• Make sure that you or your agency makes arrangements with your employer or his
representative to pick you up at the destination country airport.

• Keep a copy of the jobsite/employer, Embassy, consulate, and POLO

Nurses, Therapists and Other Medical Workers Needed In A Saudi Hospital

POEA announced that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is in urgent need of qualified applicants for the position/s:

One-Stop Shop for OFWs this August!

Current and aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) don’t have to go to numerous locations to avail government services soon. According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), a one-stop shop for OFWs is opening this August 15.
This development is DOLE’s response to President Duterte’s directive to make availment of government services easier for OFWs.
The  One-Stop Service Center for OFWs (OSSCO) can be found at the:
Ground floor, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s Main Office
Blas F. Ople Building, Ortigas Avenue corner EDSA, Mandaluyong City

The various government offices at the one-stop center will offer the following OFW services:

Passport Validity Extension for Balik-Manggagawa (vacationing Workers)

2. Overseas Welfare Workers Administration (OWWA)- Processing of OWWA Membership/Renewal of Membership

POEA recently announced these job vacancies for medical workers in Japan and Germany.

Germany is Hiring ICU Nurses

The lnternational Placement Service of the German Federal Employment Agency (ZAVIBA) is in need of qualified applicants for the position of 70 ICU Nurses.

QUALIFIC ATIONS:
Filipino citizen (Male or Female) and permanent resident of the Philippines with:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (four years professional education)
Active Philippine Nursing License
 At least two years of professional experience as nurse in hospitals, rehabilitation centers and care institutions
German language proficiency -is willing to undergo German language training in the Philippines to attain Level B1 (to be paid by the employer)
With Bl or 82 language proficiency level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Salary: Starting monthly salary of €1,900 (gross); Monthly salary of € 2,300 (gross) after recognilion as a qualified nurse.
Travel expenses: The employer will pay the visa and airfare from the Philippines to Germany.
Board and Lodging: The employer will assist the employee find a suitable accommodation;

POEA Announces Sched of 1st Special EPS – TOPIK for 2016

According  to  the  MOU  on  the  Sending  of  Workers  between  the  Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea (MOEL) and Department  of  Labor  and  Employment  of  the  Philippines, (DOLE), the  1st Special  EPS –TOPIK in 2016 will  be  conducted    for  those who voluntarily  returned  home before  within  their  permitted  sojourn  period and want to come back for work in Korea.
All  job  seekers  who  want  to  work  in  Korea  under  the  Employment Permit    System    should    pass the 1st Special EPS-TOPIK in 2016, implemented  by  the  Human  Resources  Development  Service  of  Korea (HRD  Korea)  authorized  by  the  MOEL,  and  only  those  who  passed  the test are allowed to submit the job application form for EPS.
